Project is finished!

I've been working on a project sine the BADFA convention, and now it's finished.

A little trompe l'oeil, viewed from the bottom of the stairs ...
Hole in the wall
Created in acrylics, on matt emulsion (latex in the US) painted plasterboard. I mainly used DecoArt colours, with a little help from their new Media Fluid Acrylics. I used Americana Extender and Retarder for some shading, and techniques that needed extra time to work with.

This piece is high up on the wall, and the perspective is only correct when viewed from the bottom of the stairs.

BADFA Convention 2015

It's convention time!
I'm waiting ...
All BADFA members have received their invites and booking forms (and those non-technophobic ones, their newsletter, too) and should be busy filling them in and rushing off to the pillar box, so that they can get those rooms and classes booked. It's a cracking good deal!

To see what's on offer at the convention click on BADFA's blog - badfablog.blogspot.com - it's gonna be a great weekend.

Julie and I will be there, and have booked our classes - spaces are limited, don't hang around.

(May 23/24 at Lydiard House Conference Centre, near Swindon - be there!)

ATCs - I have replies!

A quick update - the ATCs I sent to Mark Montano in California arrived, and I have received my swaps!

ATCs take flight ...

Remember the ATC exchange I mentioned? Well, may be you do.

I signed up to Mark Montano's ATC exchange; he's in California, USA, I'm in Hampshire, UK. Although the closing date is 7 February, I've had to get myself motivated and moving to ensure they get there in time. They went in the post today, par avion!

ATCs are artist trading cards. The idea is that artists exchange cards they have made as a gift, business card, friendship type thing. They are not supposed to be sold. Originally they were made from playing cards, but as long as they are roughly that size, 2.5" x 3.5" (65 x 90 mm) they'll be OK.

So, in exchange for the bunch I've sent, I should get a whole load back from other artists, sort of networking, I suppose.

Here's mine under construction ...

Another year ... getting busy!

Hello 2015. Well, we made it through the time warp into the next year.

The latest issue of the BADFA Newsletter has just been sent to the CD subscribers, which means I get two months to relax and enjoy myself before starting the next. Like!

Might even go shopping at B&Q ...
What I do hope to do, is to get a couple of painting projects underway. I've started a canvas experiment in naive art which needs some attention, but I really want to get started on decorating the hall, stairs and landing. Not so much the decorating bit, but the trompe l'oeil at the top of the stairs. I've sketched the outline and really need to get some paint on the surface.

I don't know about you, but the short, grey days of winter sap my enthusiasm for anything that requires too much effort.

I've signed up for an ATC swap, too. That means I have to produce 15 ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) before the beginning of February.

Spring is on the way! Busy times ahead.

What are you up to?
